Did anyone else see that Politico article advocating for Al Franken as a VP choice if Hillary gets the nom? Tbh, I absolutely love the idea, though I wasn't expecting to before reading.

Bernie is 40 points down in New York. He needs a margin of 10-20 to really win that state.

If he somehow rises 50-60 points

I really like the idea as well. I've been leaning more on Castro (and somewhat Booker) but this has really convinced me that Franken would be an excellent choice.

New York is actually Bernie's home state. He is from Brooklyn. Hillary moved there from Illinois.

Unfortunately Hillary's best bet for a VP will be a simple white man. Simply to ensure that she gets the straight white male vote

People usually refer to their home state as where they are originally from, but if you want to make the case they share a home state then so be it.

In politics your home state is the state usually you served in. Obama's home state was Illinois even though he was born in Hawaii. Clinton's home state is where she served as senator, New York (you could make an Arkansas argument too). Bernie's home state is Vermont even though he grew up in New York

With that being said Clinton has won all of her "home states" so far in Illinois and Arkansas. New York will be no different

tbh all the candidates need to do a debate soon. Trump and Bernie could have one in NY; if that's scheduled maybe Hillary and Ted will join in.

Dems haven't gotten the white male vote in decades, they're not important to Dems. She needs someone who will excite the core of the Obama coalitiob (i.e. minorities).

Yep, the media gave him free coverage, but people still make their own choices. Not to mention that media coverage is a double-eged sword. Trump has had more negative coverage than positive coverage. So press gives more people an opportunity to both like him and hate him.

New York is to Hillary what Vermont is to Bernie, I'd be very surprised if she lost.
