Discussion: Will they stop shooting us?

Every other week we hear about a young unarmed black individual being killed by a white police officer. The BlackLivesMatter movement was birthed from similar scenarios. But what do we actually need to do to stop this? Is it the law enforcement, judicial system, the media, or a combo of the three? Or is it something completely different?

What do we need to do to get the to:

Bonus: Do you think Pop artists like Beyonce have the right to lead the movement even though they are musicians and not politicians?

Absolutley, i like how artists are speaking even more about this.. i know it's been talked about in rap music for decades, but when artists keep talking it brings more awareness and allows non-black americans to know.

But only if they're authentic about the cause and not using it to sell albums or singles or tour tickets.

I think the media plays a major role. When blacks protest, "they are being violent and looting," but when hockey fans lose a game, "they are passionate and strong-willed."

You also have to recognize that a lot of southern police departments still have deep connections to hate groups like the KKK and Aryan Brotherhood.

Is it really though? I am not from the US so I am genuinely asking. Do they really report it under a positive light when sports fans do it?

Exactly, I know this is a pop forum but let's not put them on a pedestal while ignoring the many civilians who are bringing light to the cause.

Not to discredit them but they don't have the power that someone like Beyoncé does to bring attention to the situation.

Beyonce isn't leading anything. She's using BLM for headlines/promo - not the other way around.

This. The media plays a huge role in it. They masquerade as "just telling the story", but behind the mask, everything they do is purposefully and calculatingly done to keep minorities (not just blacks) at the bottom of the totem pole. The whole "black people rioting is violent and unacceptable" vs "white people rioting is only out of passion" is only the most obvious example. Even white terrorists are let off by the media as simply being "mentally ill and needs help".

OT: They will not stop shooting us. In fact, I predict it will only get worse before it gets better. Especially with all the racists in the US exposing their asses during this presidential campaign. Minorities will have to demand our rights by force at some point because there's a lot of white people in this country who will NOT give up their power without a fight.
