So people not happy with Formation or the route she's taking just because they're worried about commercial success?
I don't know. Maybe they just don't like the song or the route she's supposedly taking. Music is subjective after all.

Formation is one of the most acclaimed songs of the year and I've never met anyone that doesn't like it. Clubs go insane when it comes on.
Besides, Work is #1 and it's island-influenced and "difficult" to understand.

I wrote a ****ing soliloquy just the other day about how much I respect her for truly becoming an artist and embracing her creative side.

Tell them. She's at this point in her career where she can do anything that pleases her. We've seen over the years the critics will literally eat up and love anything she does, I don't understand what so many in here are afraid of. We just need her to give us the music she feels comfortable with and slayed us with her great performances.

I'm just saying: If you don't like the music, don't like her presence, don't like her art, think she's sloppy, think she looks bad, etc., why putting time and effort into her? It just doesn't make any sense.

I'm glad you like it. I personally love the video, probably the best of her career. The song is not something I'll be playing in the years to come though.

And before anyone quotes me with the, 'oh stop bringing negativity into the base, you're so dumb LOL, gtfo', get a life. We are not one collective mind, we all have different opinions on things. I'm expressing mine. You're not going to silence me just because you disagree.

Formation was praised when it was released and 7/11 sold quite well and got really good streaming points. People liked those songs.

Formation is widely acclaimed and has been incredibly successful considering it wasn't on sale, or sent to any radio formats. Its #3 on urban radio.
Aside from that Formation wasn't for white people, it wasn't meant for white people to like, to get, to understand. Formation is about black pride, it was for black people, black women, black queers. If white people liked it, then cute, but they are an irrelevant part of the picture.
She doesn't even need "white sales" anyway, her tour is roughly 90% sold out without them, she should NEVER censor her art to be concerned with the appetites of white casual listeners. The ****.

The two worst songs of her career to date in my opinion. But that's the beauty of music I suppose, it's subjective.

That's the thing... It is your opinion. You're trying to say you don't like them and the public got turn off because of those songs when in reality people liked them.

Agree. No one has said any different. I was just pointing out the facts. Like I said, this all started with me explaining why she's not getting a 1M debut with me relaying the reasons as to why. Not for one second did I say I care that she won't get a 1M debut, I couldn't care less as long as the music is good.

a) It's the same people who probably hated RTW when it came out and now are the first to bop there shoulders as soon as it comes on
or
b) They still hope she returns with "another Deja Vu", "another Crazy in Love", "another Single Ladies", not understanding that she's past that. This is not her anymore. She's grown, she makes grown music. She's going to experiment with beats, sounds etc like she always does because as she said herself, she doesn't want to be bored by her art.

It isn't fighting, we are exchanging points of view. It'd be boring if we all thought the same way, don't you think?
