-When there was a suicide bombing in a Kuwait mosque last summer nobody changed their Facebook profile pictures to express grief.
-When there was a bombing in Turkey in January claimed by ISIS the news did not do a 24-hour full media coverage on it.
-When there was a bombing in Iraq after the Brussels attack there was 10x more interest in the Brussels attack than the Iraqi one despite the death toll in Iraq being 2x great.

Is it because these countries are seen as Muslim nations? Why are ISIS's attacks in the middle east (and most of them are there) overlooked by the Western World? Can they not see that the religion is being hijacked by maniacs or do they choose to ignore it because of their hatred for muslims?

The West is politically stable and attacks are less common so when they happen in Europe for example it's shocking and gets mass media coverage. Not hard rlly

Violence is expected in the middle east so its not surprising or newsworthy

It's just normal human nature to care about things that are close to home. So it's just natural that western media will report more on events that happen in the western world.

I don't know, but it sucks. Life matters, regardless of geographical location, race, religion, etc.

I guess, fundamentally, it hits closer to home when it occurs somewhere that feels more familiar.

The media is notorious for manipulating the public to fit its own agenda and propagate its belief system.

You are right. When the Paris attacks happened state television cut the regular broadcast and showed news from Paris all day. When it happened in Turkey they mentioned it at full hours and nothing else. This is definitely wrong.

Because a terrorist bombing in the Middle East doesn't make people in the West feel unsafe or at risk as they go about their daily because it will never affect them or the ones they love lives but when an attack happens in such close proximity, you suddenly realize how unsafe the bubble you live in actually is. The fact you know people who live/were holidaying in Paris or Brussels is much more scarier than a bomb in a city you never heard of and probably couldn't point out on a map I suppose.
