KINGS OF LEON "Use Somebody"
Only By The Night (2008)
Only god knows how many time I´ve heard this song on the radio. For a US pop music world that only seems to know rock in the post-grunge Nickelback and Daughtry flavor, Kings of Leon are truly a breath of fresh air. They are fond of the grand crescendo in the manner of Coldplay, but the guitar work and throaty vocals are all classic rock. US pop radio is finally waking up to this gem of a band. They are nominated for a couple of awards at the Grammys.
LADY GAGA "Paparazzi"
The Fame (2008)
GaGa's vocals are impressive here with a deep mournful undertone to them. The lyrics deal with the dark side of celebrity culture and its vibe is so 80s with heavy syths and a dramatic feeling. The music video is so different and interesting, it shows some sort of a bitter love story, where the man she loves tries to use her for some dollars from the paparazzi and ends up almost killing her, she gets back on her feet, and is hungry for revenge. She won 2 professional awards at the VMAs with this video, fantastic right?
BRITNEY SPEARS "Circus"
Circus (2008)
Enter one, enter all, the circus is in town! When I saw this video for the first time I was really impressed, Britney worked so much through the year and of course she was successful, the Circus tour is one of the best tours of the year talking about sales. I *****d this song basically the entire year and I must confess Im not tired yet LOL, Britney is here to stay, cant wait for the next bunny inside the hat. - All Eyes on me in the center of the ring just like a circus a-ha! -
Ooops I guess I'll only get Paparazzi this time.
It's a great song despite the overate and everything, and that video is so creative. Bring that huge top 3 Jimmy!
