I studied abroad all over Australia and it was amazing. Would recommend doing it.

But yes, it's a nice experience, you get to meet amazing people, but this made me realize that I would never live in a small city. I'm very used to big cities and that will never change I think.

I would recommend you to go to a big city. I bet you can enjoy the experience way better.

I studied abroad in Norwich, England for a whole academic year, 2014-2015, and I loved it! I got to experience England for a fraction of the cost of London and I got to travel around most of Western Europe as well

Do a year, seriously. Go somewhere different - huge cities are huge pains in the ass.

I did a semester abroad that took me and my schoolmates to Russia, Ukraine, Finland, Sweden, and Denmark. It was a wonderful time.

My research for graduate school has taken me to Spain, Germany, Mexico, Peru, Colombia, and Ecuador.

I would love to do a semester in Japan, but my work is not related to that part of the world

I studied abroad in the summer in Australia and that was amazing and then for fall semester I was abroad in Berlin, which was also amazing. Both completely different. Highly suggest both. The language barrier isn't much of a problem in Europe. Most people speak English, especially in Berlin. But try to pick up a few words here and there wherever you go. It's only polite.

Costs depends on the cost of living of the countries you would go to, obviously.
