The "Dark Ages" were a result of the fall of the Roman Empire. The Roman Empire fell because of barbarian invasions. It was the Christian Church that preserved most of the western Graeco-Roman philosophical tradition. This is not only speaking of the Western Church but also the Byzantine Church. It was only the western part of the empire that fell, the eastern part did not. Christianity not only brought Europe out of the Dark Ages, but the Judaeo tradition it brought with it enhance the philosophical traditions of Greece.
