A Hello Kitty themed train has made its debut in Taiwan.
The Taroko Express was spotted making its inaugural run on a round trip from Taipei to Taitung on March 21.
However, while the journey went smoothly, the fans clearly wanted to go home with a souvenir. Of the 376 customised headrest covers on board when the train set of, only 48 remained by the time the journey came to an end

The train set off from Shulin station in Taipei and ended up at Jhihben station in Taitung, about 11 hours away, before making the same journey back.
Hello Kitty is everywhere on the train - in the car interior, seat covers, toilets and even the conductors room.
The designers took their inspiration from destinations in Asia, Europe, Africa, the Americas and the north and south poles.
Lucky passengers who were the first to ride the colourful train were greeted with life sized Hello Kitty dolls, played by performers in costumes.
They were also gifted souvenir tickets.
However, while the staff were prepared for a few of the headrest covers to go missing, they hadn't anticipated that 328 would go astray.
In fact, they had prepared 120 spare covers but these proved to be not quite enough.
