She openly admits that the songs she writes for other artists aren't anything personal to her. She writes them for the purpose of being typical pop music that has chart potential when a popular artist sings them. That's why she gives those songs to others. She keeps the personal songs to herself (see 1000 forms of fear and her other previous albums) unless they get turned down. It's not that she's downplaying the songs she writes, she just acknowledges that they aren't personal and she has no emotional attachment to them. You can stay reaching while the legs slay you.
