If the only purpose is to make the iPhone a micrometer thinner, it's not worth it. Make the phone water proof and shatter proof. I don't care about the "Thinnest phone ever" tag they're planning on using.

This though.
They've actually gotten worse regarding the latter. I never use cases, and that was perfectly fine with my (ancient) 4s, because the glass back created a grip with my fingers. But the 6 has a smooth back that makes holding it (w/o a case) like holding wet soap. It's a mess.
Using a phone case is supposed to be a precaution, not an outright necessity.
