The thing about Jessica is that she had a lot of vocal power, but her technique was absolutely horrid. She could have been a fantastic vocalist if she had learned to sing properly, but she never did.

LOL, Britney had TWO international #1 smash hits that year with Toxic and Everytime, ITZ was still selling millions, she was selling out arenas on her tour, and her greatest hits came out towards the end and went on to sell 7M copies. The Stripped era was completely over by 2004.

Jessica was nowhere close to either of them, but she had some success. I Wanna Love You Forever was a really big hit, she had a few more other hits like Irresistible and With You, she has 2 multi-platinum albums (same amount as Xtina for the record), and her show was getting great ratings during its time. Never a music superstar, but some decent success.

In the U.S. at least, maybe it's because her bubblegum pop album is by far and away her most successful album.
