"Moderate" hit, only the night show last month (for album track) and no other promo as of yet. Being apart of 1D isn't really a plus either. That didn't help JC Chasez and didn't allow Nicole Scherzinger an American album release. Plus everyone here said 1D fans would turn their backs and he'd flop miserably, so those expectations were never real. He wasn't going to bring all them over and PILLOWTALK is actually reaching the GP (streaming wise), not completely supported just by Directioners like most their songs.
I don't know what your pre-solo idea was, but many are changing what they said to fit a negative agenda still and that just shows he's doing good.
