Where did you live? I live in Brookline and couldn't ask for more.

NYC is nice but that's only because no other city in America dares to try to compete with it. I think if the states/cities in the south were a little more liberal and a little less stupid they could compete with NYC but they don't... So what's a girl to do. Culture doesn't thrive if the people are too close minded for culture.

This is unfair. NYC is the largest metro in the US and continues to be the 1st/2nd most important city in the WORLD right next to London. While Philly is an important major US city, it kinda lags behing it's peers in the US...which are already a few tiers below NYC.

I think Philly is a cool underrated city though. NYC is just too powerful. The only place in the US that can go toe to toe is LA, and even that's a reach

LA is too spread out and the public transportation is weak and you don't have access to the full city without spending 4 hours of you day in a car....so yeah... it can't even begin to compete with NY.

Philly is a great city. It's really gorgeous and it's very historic. The trip from Philly to NYC (via train at least) is a really easy trip.

NYC though has so much more to do. It's a lot more industrialized and less architectural than Philly but it just feels so much bigger and better.

That's why I said it was a reach.In stature/prominence, it's undoubtedly the closest competition to NYC in the country. It competes in a few metrics

But LA slays. LA >>> NYC imo

I live outside of philly and it sucks there

I prefer to live life outside of my car but thats just me.... I realize thats not for everyone. LA has better weather than NYC.
