Some of the girls of ATRL know I love Rihanna but it's kinda annoying how (even in 2015 with 45S, BBHMM and A02 when the singles performed similarly, Applause outselling 45S) she wasn't ripped apart by everyone and the media. Why has Rihanna escaped the lashings Gaga got?



Also before anyone mentions promo, Rihanna did a decent amount in 2015 for those singles and Gaga's promo was in the US, UK and Japan for ARTPOP and it ended pretty quickly after the release of the album.

Because Gaga made most impact out of all the girls and she's the standard

Because ANTI has had better music and wasn't seen as something totally delusional.

Gaga is my favorite artist out there, but the answer is obvious

#1 - She was Dragged by the Media for a while, not as severe but she was
#2 - Work went #1 which fixed everything
#3 - ANTi was critically acclaimed in many ways
#4 - ANTi is #1 in it's 8th week
#5 - Gaga is an album artist and Rihanna isn't so the standards were different
#6 - Pure sales are horrible right now, especially compared to 2013

Gaga was a big album seller, thus her sales looked much worse in comparison. Plus Artpop was promoted highly.

Rihanna's never had big first week sales, and the album campaign was a mess for over a year before it was leaked online and released for free.

The media was lashing gaga mainly for her commercial performance in 2013

My theory is.. Nobody likes pretentious artists without the talent to back it up

Maybe because Gaga used to be an album seller unlike Rihanna.
Rihanna is still slaying when it comes to singles. Work is massive.
However when American Oxygen flopped she was dragged though.
