I just hope she tours.. I must meet her. I predict 2 more albums. Next one might come when she's like 35.. The 3 previous ones are mature & coherent but I respect that she wants to spend more time on her personal life. Marina gained some fans for life I think!

Well I don't blame her, her music keeps flopping. Like she said she is 30. She probably thought she would have made it by now.

Girl, first you say you need to write music in order to express yourself and be healthy. Now you're not writing anything because you're done with the industry ...

At least I got to see her live for the second time a month ago, next time she better bring a proper stage.

I always wonder when non-mainstream musicians say that.... Can she afford it? Like, it's a job that helps her maintain a somewhat-stable income. Regular people can't just say "oh, I'm gonna take a break from working", and she's closer to being a regular person that a high-profile celebrity. She doesn't even have any other endorsements that will keep the checks coming.
I'm not condemning it, I'm just genuinely curious.

I'm not condemning it, I'm just genuinely curious.

I'm assuming she has a fair bit of cash?
I mean she's done two tours that lasted quite a while and had two successful eras, she's probably got enough money to keep her comfortable for a while and a dedicated fan base who will buy her music even if she takes a few years off.

I get what she means, but the fact that she said "I'm not 18 anymore" as if that's the prime age. 18 is SOOOO young. I'm 23, she's making me feel old lol.

Although unfortunately in the best way I can say this, 30 is different for men then it is for women. Particularly in the entertainment industry. And I completely see why she doesn't want to be a "pop star" anymore, but that doesn't mean she can't make music. There are plenty of female musicians who aren't "pop stars".

and tbh is she really "flopping" as everyone keeps saying? When you think of all the musicians in the world, Marina is pretty damn successful. I would be more than happy with her success. There's only maybe 10 HUGE musicians at a time. Does anyone really expect her to have #1 pop hits and use that as a measure for success? I think she's incredibly successful and famous, and has millions of fans around the world.

Yeah that's the issue with Marina. She wants to do the music that she wants to do and get money from labels too and it's impossible, since labels don't give money to acts they have 0 control over, and the big labels don't even sign those acts.

Honestly, I agree. Marina's fanbase is huge enough so why expect being another Katy Perry? That is coming from a stan. Your music makes millions of people happier and stronger. Unless she has another reason of course, I hear Marina wants to focus on her personal life, that's understandable.
