Kylie is a fantastic performer.

Kylie needs every prop and show girl costume she can get her hands on just to stand out. Madonna can entertain with just her presence.

It's less that she needs it and more just a marketing thing. Kylie's latched on to the showgirl persona because it sells, ever since her greatest hits tour. Kylie can perform solo with no props or dancers and pull it off (her anti-tour was pretty critically acclaimed).

But how many people actually bother to look into things like the Anti Tour before deriding Kylie's performing skills just because they're used to seeing her in a flashy showgirl outfit?

Bingo.

On the topic of Kylie's live endeavors, Intimate and Live is such a depressing tour to look back on. The show was actually brilliant from what I've seen of it, but knowing she was afraid she wouldn't sell out 2k to 3k venues... lord, it must be hard going through that kind of career downturn.

Thank god/Cher for "Spinning Around" finding its way to her.

Yeah, the Impossible Princess era is tragic and pretty much the reason why she shies away from doing anything totally experimental tbh. I think she got burned badly by the negative reaction.

Intimate & Live was a big moment in her career though because it promoted her as a legit touring act in Australia. When Light Years was released, people already knew she gave a great performance hence why the On a Night Like This tour was the biggest arena tour by a female ever there (until P!nk stole the crown )

Can she still hit those notes these days? She did well enough on the Les Folies tour.
