Discussion: Was "She's the Man" offensive?

So after coming home from being out for st pattys some friends of mine decided to crash at my place at watch some movies.

Anyway we watched she's the man and it got me thinking would this movie be controversial in 2016 with everyone being able identify with whatever they want. I mean it's a comedy but I feel like amandla stenberg would NOT find this movie funny.

It's one of my favorite comedies. I've watched it more than 20+ times. Amanda is such an amazing comedic actress.

It's a movie, it's not suppose to be taken seriously. I was thinking if this exact thing about Friends as well. I'm sure it would have made a few SJW's FUMING had it aired now and I'm glad it aired at a time when people didn't take everything so serious.

Writers and producers these days are trying so hard to fit it with these 'movements' and stuff that it's ruining their work.

No. It's of-the-time. You're right that in 2016 it wouldn't work, but it's a great movie for when it was released.
