News: Florida burglar shot and killed during robbery

Seventeen-year-old Trevon Johnson died Thursday night after Jenrette shot him once as he allegedly fled the scene of the home invasion, according to Miami-Dade police. There have been no indications that Johnson was armed.

The slaying of the teenage burglary suspect was reported triumphantly by local television station WSVN, which said Jenrette had “turned the tables” on Johnson.

“Police say this would-be robber chose the wrong home because this homeowner did more than just call the cops,” reported WSVN’s Brandon Beyer. “She had a gun.”

But Johnson’s family said the young man didn’t deserve to die over mere property, which they said he hadn’t even taken.

“I don’t care if she have her gun license, her rights or any of that. That is way beyond the law,” Johnson’s cousin Nautika Harris told CBS Miami. “Way beyond.”

She wasn't home when it was happening. The police were already on their way and she came to her home armed to check things out.

So? he was still there when she got there, that's the point

someone was in her house stealing her things and is potentially dangerous. Like had she not been armed do you think he would just be like "oh sorry love, let me just put these things back and make you a nice cup of tea before I leave, I'm not going to hurt you or anything..."?

Ugh I'm conflicted. See in these situation I'd prefer if someone had beaten him real good or maybe shot him like in the leg or something but I understand what adrenaline does to you so I really don't know. I think it's ****ed up that this kid met his end this way, over someone's material property but again I can't really blame her for defending her home. This could have ended way better but it shouldn't have happened in the first place.

"potentially dangerous" yes, this is exactly why you just let the police handle things instead of trying to be a vigilante.

Someone is dead and it didn't have to happen.

As far as I'm concerned, had he stayed at home and found something better to do with his time, he wouldn't have died. It's a shame he lost his life to such a petty crime and yes, this dumb woman should have just left it to the police but at the end of the day, she didn't just come out of nowhere shoot at a random kid in the street for the thrill.
