The last milestone of this sort came in 2005, when the series hit the 100 million shipped mark, according to this GameSpot article from the time. Considering the series began in 1996, that (very roughly) means nine years to sell the first 100 million and 11 years to sell the next 100 million.
…that's still a remarkably steady performer in an increasingly tumultuous video game industry.
Very impressive. And to think I was on a playground in elementary school when Pokemon first came to the states.
I just wish the games would evolve. I stopped playing with Black or White. Can't remember which cartridge it is.

Also, why are Nintendo putting all their funds into a game like this:
And yet the main games are getting ignored. Doesn't make sense. I mean, I see people begging for better graphics and improved gameplay all the time. It has to evolve somehow. Mario didn't stay 2D forever, why act like Pokemon has to look like a game from the 90's still?
