Oh and it's a lie too. Adele's vocal range is about 3 octaves.
Edit: Just looked it up, it's 2.4 octaves. I'm honestly very surprised.

That can be taken multiple ways I suppose, but to try and use range to dismiss a singer is silly if that was an attempt to slight one singer to boost another. Hell I have a three octave range and I can't sing for ****.

She said she gained more octaves after her vocal surgery. That 2 octave thing is from when she first started.
