ATRL fanboys are something else.
I hope this happens. Modern gaming is all about community. Who wouldn't want a large pool of players?

This entire post is everything I was thinking. All the gaming sites and forums I went to were excited about Microsoft doing this and pumped to finally play with their friends with other consoles. For once, most people weren't arguing about this. Now I come to ATRL and the story is all skewed and messy.
Essentially, Microsoft threw the control to the developers to make online systems that are open. Rocket League is the first game that'll be trying this out. Soon enough, PC and Xbox players at least will be able to play together which is where I thougjt gaming would go to years ago since everytime a new COD or whatever gets released, the older one gets barren. This solves that issue since there will be enough players across multiple platforms to make more robust communities for many older and newer games.
Let's see what Sony says and I wonder if Nintendo will get in on this action eventually.
