They are both problems that need fixing. They can be tackled at the same time. The problem of "fixing Hollywood" is a much bigger task and it's going to take a long time to remove racism in casting. This is at least a nice cushion until that happens, because the reality is that there ARE, in fact, many amazing, Oscar-worthy minority-driven films that are being ignored year after year. Maybe these new members will help bring the rest of the Academy's attention to them, where they would never have given them a second glance before.

Excuse you? Kung Fu Panda is the BEST animated movie franchise of all time. It honors and marries beautiful culture, animalistic wonder, stunning animation and top-notch voice work. She was the highest-grossing female director ever for a while because KFP2 was so good. She deserves it.
