Although this stereotype on Asians appears upfront "positive" and all good, its actually really not. It puts pressure on Asian Americans to perform a specific way and if they don't they they are ostracized for it. Also mind you, this model minority stereotype hurts Blacks and Hispanics, you know why? Because people used it to say "If Asians can perform pretty well, how come Blacks and Hispanics".
To further my point why its bad, it shoves the struggling Asian Americans under the rug as if they don't exist.
