Although this stereotype on Asians appears upfront "positive" and all good, its actually really not. It puts pressure on Asian Americans to perform a specific way and if they don't they they are ostracized for it. Also mind you, this model minority stereotype hurts Blacks and Hispanics, you know why? Because people used it to say "If Asians can perform pretty well, how come Blacks and Hispanics".

To further my point why its bad, it shoves the struggling Asian Americans under the rug as if they don't exist.

So let's not address it at all and continue to perpetuate the Asian nerd stereotype and have that be 90% of the roles given to Asian actors.

That's ********. China has stricter laws against child labor than most countries .Child labor happens in unregulated areas, but not at prominent corporations like Foxconn.

And I have always had problems understanding why Westerners choose to target Foxconn of all companies to make a point about labor conditions in China. The starting salary for a production line worker at Foxconn is over US$700 a month, which is very decent for a developing country. There are plenty of companies out there that are much better examples.

I want people stop misusing the term "racist". Chris's joke was not racist -- it was based on both negative and positive stereotypes.

The point is, there was a huge uproar over the lack of black nominees which was discussed throughout the night by the host only for him to turn around and make another racial group the butt of the joke. Its extremely hypocritical

racism is based on prejudice, stereotyping and discrimination. This conflict falls under racial discrimination and stereotyping so even though Chris isnt racism and probably didnt mean much harm, the comedy skit was racist

Aside from a couple people on the internet, I have yet to see any black person cosign Chris Rock's Asian jokes at the Oscars.

People are so quick to cry about being lumped together with detractors ("not ALL white people are racist!" "not ALL muslims are terrorists!" being some prime examples). If you don't like being lumped together, then stop doing it to other people. It's hypocritical. Chris' joke was uncalled for. What does that have to do with the black community though? Absolutely nothing. It has to do with Chris and his own blindness to other minorities' struggles. Don't try to pin that on "black people".
