I think there's definitely a "raw talent" underneath all the fun and carefree pop songs tho. When you look at her demos pre-One Of the Boys and her solely penned tracks on her debut, there was definitely something. But she sold herself. She wanted success and why not, good for her but that's a bit of a shame.
Even her voice is losing the bit of originality she had in her tone initially. Now, she sounds too soapy and since Teenage Dream (the album) her lyrics are a big downgrade, full of cliché metaphors.
I think she's kinda lost it with Prism tbh. Sure, she's had 2 huge hit singles but when you release songs like "Birthday" and "This Is How We Do" after that, at 30+ years old, you just cannot be taken seriously. There isn't one risk (even just single-wise) that she took in all her career, except releasing "Thinking Of You" as a single, maybe.

This 100%. She kinda stopped doing the kind of songwriting/music that set her apart and made her unique, and started doing stuff that doesn't really stand out a ton to give her name some individuality.
People like Gaga, Bey, Kelly etc, have all shown the world that they're really talented on a large scale, and you hear people mention how talented they are. Even Taylor has stayed true to her identity as a songwriter/lyricist, and really sells that to show people that she's a strong songwriter and has talent in that area.
