Right? The Velvet concept to me meant slow jams, not ballads. There's a difference. But, there's still a chance a few of these tracks will be what I was wanting from this concept, so I don't want to jump to conclusions. Also, if this mini doesn't deliver, it won't be the end of the world. Ladies Code basically delivered what I wanted from this concept in the first place, so I'm still happy.
RV are still a young group, they have so much room to grow. SM is probably playing it safe because OST-style ballads have a better chance to outperform "Automatic" and "Be Natural" on a commercial level. Even if this era turns out to be a misstep in terms of quality (which for the record I'm really liking most of the aesthetics and the MV teaser is really interesting) I hope SM will try the Velvet concept again. It's a concept that still has a lot of potential and will probably deliver more as the girls get older and find their footing within the industry.
In terms of the track list, I'm not phased too much, as long as those reworks turn out to be bops. It does come across as lazy, though.
