I always wondered what the average mexican thinks, what is your country ethos and soul, Spain or Azteca?

Well were mixed, but we're proud we consider ourselves aztecas, mayas or whatever, not spaniards.

They just came to **** us up, now they're flocking over here cause their economy is ****ed up

Spanish.. You do know most Mexicans don't claim a Native group [a lot more than Aztecs btw] right? Most are a mixture of Spanish/Native , Mestizos, and ties to the Native traditions have long been forgotten.

the majority of Mexico, as well as Latin America, is mestizo (Spanish + Amerindian) or largely Amerindian (but still admixed). [Source]. Mexican culture is a blend of both Aztec and Spanish; you can't separate the two.

Very few countries, like Peru and Bolivia, have large populations of pure indigenous people. They've either been intermixed with the white conquistadors that settled there or have been killed off like in America. The former is what happened in Mexico.

I know there's this white/black thing among Hispanics depending on how light they are, but even the lighter skinned ones look obviously admixed with Native American and foolishly claim to be Spanish/white. Jessica Alba is only a quarter Amerindian but makes her look like a typical latina, not your average white person you see from Spain or other areas in Europe.

Also, it's worth noting that Mexicans can also be part African too. It's not a rare thing

Both. Reason being that my family is from Mexico but 75% of my family is light skin & my ancestors are Native/Spaniards.

Well my mothers genetics are more spaniard and I think my father is more Indian

if you look at the usa and canada, chile, argentina and brazil, the native american culture seems to have been completely removed, while in all the other american land countries seems still strong

I don't know any Mexicans that don't acknowledge their Spaniard roots. I travel to Mexico 4 times a year and we've always had this discussion and most of us know that our ancestors are mixed.

yes of course, the most evolved/populated areas of America were from Peru to Mexico, and that's where the native culture remains...
