The movie was great, don't know if I liked the last 10 minutes or so though.

Saw it tonight. LOVED it. So much tension and suspense. The acting was A+, along with the production & cinematography. I personally didn't mind the ending, found it quite effective.

Movie of the year! Like most have said the ending kind of ruined it for me. Especially since we were hoping for a "direct sequel" to 2008's Cloverfield.

They should've ended it with her driving to Houston and seeing an apocalyptic world left behind from the "Cloverfield" creature(s). I feel like they could've done more easter eggs i.e. tie in with the first Cloverfield to make it more of a sequel.

I read up online there were a few. Like Slusho, which apparently I missed. The company Howard worked for. What he was working on which resulted in the ending of Cloverfield 2008's scene of something crashing into the ocean. I will have to see it again!

This movie was perfect. Loved it so much, Mary and John slayed. The ending didn't feel messy to me, it made sense that this has a little to do with the original film but it's not a direct sequel.

kinda OT but i always thought the Cloverfield monster was really scary, i know a lot of people think it looked ridiculous but i still feel uncomfortable whenever i see the picture of it looking down at the camera guy

I mean, the Cloverfield element was clearly a marketing ploy to get bums on seats...but I didn't expect Cloverfield 2, and I wasn't disappointed. I thought it was an intelligent way of making more films in the universe(?) without repeating themselves.

I didn't feel the last 15 minutes ruined it. It needed to build to something more than just escaping otherwise it'd be a good, but typical, thriller. We knew there'd likely be aliens/monsters involved considering the title, but the question throughout was how honest Howard was being and what was really going on. The car above, the blistering woman, the alien sounds, the is-he-or-isn't-he-crazy (sub?)plot all kept us guessing. We needed to know when she got out what the truth was. A subtler ending would have been her escaping, breathing the air to realise it was all lies and then seeing 'something' in the distance as a final twist. However, I read something that pointed out that that would have betrayed the themes of the film - abuse and how Michelle copes with it. She has a history of being abused and she always runs away - something she wants to change. She ran away from the past, her fiancé and while she fought her way out, she still ran away from the bunker. With the alien sequence we see her fighting and then running, so she's getting tougher, but it's the road to Houston or Baton Rouge which is her characters real moment of change. She has the option to run OR fight. And for her/us to really feel a sense of what's at stake, she needed to see the aliens. Had we not had the last 15 minutes, that decision wouldn't work.

I'd like the next film to continue it's vague anthology by showing someone elses perspective of the attack. Perhaps an employee of the corporations supposedly involved. That way we can see events unfold from a more informed place, exploring the 'why' and 'how'. It'd be cool if they tied in Michelle's character later on in Houston.

I just hope we don't have to wait 8 years for the next.
