Michael Jackson - They Don't Really Care About Us - Live in Munich 1997
I chose this performance specifically due to the relevancy of this song in America's current political climate. The song speaks on the issues of the #BlackLivesMatter movement almost 20 years before it was even a movement. The background dancers in military gear speak on the militarization of the police force in America. This performance is a powerful statement to combat the racism in that was occurring, and still occurs, in America, and specifically to the police brutality against black people. The patriotic salute at the end with the American flag and Olympic torch really drives the political statement home by reinforcing the idea that everyday is creating a part of history that will impact the future of the country.
KANYE WEST PERFORMED A MEDLEY OF STRONGER AND HEY MAMA AT THE 2008 GRAMMY MUSIC AWARDS. FEATURING A SHORT, ELECTRONIC INTERLUDE BY DAFT PUNK, THIS IS CONSIDERED ONE OF KANYE'S MOST EMOTIONAL AND POWERFUL LIVE PERFORMANCES EVER.
THE POWERFUL WEST SHOWS OFF HIS INCREDIBLE RHYTHM AND POWER DURING STRONGER, AND THEN SLOWLY FADES INTO A VULNERABLE AND EMOTIONAL PERFORMER CELEBRATING HIS MOTHER AS A LOVING AND CARING BLACK ANGEL.
IT'S WEIRD - BECAUSE WE HAVE NEVER SEEN KANYE LIKE THIS BEFORE, BUT BECAUSE OF KANYE'S MOTHER PASSING A COUPLE OF MONTHS BEFORE THE PERFORMANCE, WE SEE WEST IN HIS LOWEST MOMENTS. AND IN THOSE LOWEST MOMENTS, WE SEE KANYE PROSPER MORE THAN EVER.
I'm sure most people would expect a performance of an uptemo song, since this Ciara and she's one of the best dancers of all time. But she can slay the choreography during her slower songs also, and I wanted to showcase her versatility with this performance. Live vocals. Full choreography. And all for a ballad. Queen!
The acapella of "Tell Me" and her singing "Show Me Love" was one of the first times we really heard Azealia sing live and it took so much guts to sing acapella but she easily pulled it off. The talent is unreal
