The Minneapolis NAACP is demanding answers after a couple dining at a local Joe’s Crack Shack restaurant reported seeing a photograph depicting a public hanging.
The image embedded inside a table top at a Joe’s Crack Shack in Roseville showed a large group of white people watching a public execution of at least one black person, a local NBC News affiliate reported.
“Hanging at Groesbeck, Texas on April 12th 1895,” the photo read, depicting the public execution of Richard Burleson, who had been convicted of murdering a white man. The Joe’s Crab Shack version of the photo included a word bubble coming from the prisoner that said, “All I said was that I didn’t like the gumbo.”
Tyrone Williams and Chauntyll Allen noticed the photo when they sat down for dinner Wednesday night and immediately notified the manager.
Ms. Allen added, “Seeing a picture of two black men being lynched was the last thing that I expected to see at what was supposed to be a family-friendly restaurant. As you can imagine, seeing that image ruined my appetite and my pre-birthday dinner. It is hard to believe that this type of racism is still going on in 2016.”
Lynching photos are so horrendous. They're laughing, smiling and having a good time when they just killed someone. I've even seen cases where they put lynchings on postcards to send around.
This is why we need Trump. China produces everything now and dictates what we buy. Big companies are buying products from them because they are cheap. Trump will stop that and makes these companies buy products from Americans, not Chinese.
