I do stan for lyrics, and perhaps sometimes to a greater extent, being able to sing along. And K-pop generally has a certain sound. It's kind of its own genre of music.

No. Trash music is trash music no matter what language it is sang in. I have plenty of Korean and Japanese songs with more authentic and traditional hints in them. I'd never touch K-Pop or J-Pop. Tacky & Tragic.

No, it's not. As others have pointed out, though, the "I want to be able to understand what I'm listening to!" excuse is so weird to me. It'd be one thing for you to say that and idk stan for The Beatles or something, but when you're listening to the latest yolo song by a pop girl, there's not much lyrical depth to that, and I honestly would rather just not know what they're saying than know they're saying some foolishness.

Also, I've literally had a Future stan and a Death Metal stan ask how I can listen to something if I don't understand the lyrics.

Oh, and I like to make up meanings to songs sometimes. I think it helps me with my own creative processes. Or, if I'm genuinely curious, I would look up a translation.

Some K-Pop groups actually have great lyrics, and I think it's just as offensive to say all K-Pop is generic and tacky when people on here would flip a brick if you said all Western pop music was generic and tacky, because we all know that's not true at all and it's an undeserved stereotype.

People on here that think it's all trash... I honestly can't fault them. Back when I hated it, some members that were deep into it used to post the most GENERIC dance-pop CRAP and praise it on here + and there was Gangnam Style which is AWFUL so of course, I assumed everything was that way too. You'll never really know until you look into it yourself. The language barrier is nothing to me now. I watch interviews, performances, mvs and listen to their music etc and although I don't understand, it still just feels natural to me. idk how to explain lol
