Stan Lee had said "That blue skin was used because other colors might offend ethnic groups (red-Native American, yellow-Asian for example). Green was already used for aliens and gamma exposed people.)
Also, back in the early days of the Silver Age, Marvel color-coded their characters. Heroes wore primary colors (mostly blue or yellow) while villains wore secondary colors (green and purple, mostly. Notice, for example, that Quicksilver wore green in the Brotherhood, but switched to blue when he joined the Avengers.
