Sacha Baron Cohen explains why he left Freddie Mercury film
Quote:
In 2010, it was announced that Sacha Baron Cohen would play the late Freddie Mercury in a new biopic about the singer's life. He eventually left the project, and in a new interview with Howard Stern, he detailed his creative differences with members of Queen.
"A member of the band—I won't say who—said, "You know, this is such a great movie because it's got such an amazing thing that happens in the middle of the movie." And I go, "What happens in the middle of the movie?" He goes, "You know, Freddie dies." ... I go, "What happens in the second half of the movie?" He goes, "We see how the band carries on from strength to strength." I said, "Listen, not one person is going to a movie where the lead character dies from AIDS and then you carry on to see how the band carries on."
no lies spotted. why a movie about Freddie life, be 50% about other band member trying to stay relevant, its not a queen movie. Those other 3 are so narcissistic, i think they using Freddie to make themselves relevant again and shade some attention to them.
Bitch, this is not Psycho where you can kill the lead and everything still works. No one gives a **** about how the band carries on. They want to know about Freddie and get that film tea. I personally would like to know how he was able to keep his condition a secret.
I wonder if they would have actually filmed in India for the parts about his childhood. Who would they have hired to play his family? Maybe some Indian actors.
