People can do what makes them happy without hurting others in my opinion, but in this case people ARE being hurt and made unhappy. In most polygamist marriages the women have no rights in who they marry or any of their life decisions afterwards. They're basically glorified baby making machines that do as their husbands say. Obviously this isn't all cases but it's a LOT, especially in these fundamentalist mormon sects here in Utah. Enough to fight against it in my opinion.

I aced logic, while most (from what I saw) struggled with the concept. I know what I'm talking about. While I don't consider gay marriage a bad thing (I am gay), but because of the slippery slope, people will use that in their favor to demand other legal rights. My argument against this has nothing to do with religion. It's more about what's in the heart. Who says a married couple can't be friends with loved ones and be in a relationship with them? Oh. Oh, because they want to have sex with them. That's not love. That's perversion. Sorry.

I usually agree with you but I'm not 100% on your side on this one. But you're kinda right with the slippery slope. People are gonna use gay marriage as an excuse for everything especially to control our community. I'm gay and I don't have to fight for everything in this world, only for our community. This is also my problem with the whole letter thing in the LGBT community. It was always the GLBT community and now in 2016 it's the LGBTQAAR2EATS community. Stop it. We need to respect our history, we need to stop fighting other people's battles. Polygamy is not a sexual orientation. I think the comparison to Homosexuality is wrong. It doesn't make sense. Gay, Straight etc. are sexual orientations. The rest are not and the gay community doesn't need to support everything.The slippery slope thing is not the fault of gay marriage tho. Gay marriage is a good thing for us and our community has fought for this for so long.

I don't have a problem with Polygamy but I don't support it either.

Polygamy is not a sexual orientation. It's a choice. It's basically heterosexuals deciding to live together and have sexual relations with each other.

And in my case, the rhetoric is absolutely the same. For a consenting relation between two or more grown-up and consenting people.

Yeah, that's the main argument against polygamy. The same people protesting would never agree with a woman having multiple husbands. Hypocritical and sexist af.

Women (and only women) get screwed in polygamy.

Group marriages on the other hand, where each partner is married to each other (instead of one spouse having multiple spouses to himself) is a different story...
