You have such a careless, insensitive and black and white perception concerning the act of suicide. Suicide is NEVER the answer. In most cases, people who commit suicide are depressed to a certain degree and that
can be treated. If handled accordingly, that person who thought of taking their own life could take matters into their own hand and find happiness again in
one way or another.
It's extremely ego-centric and quite frankly heartless to let someone just take their life like that. If say, you see someone on the edge of throwing themselves off a cliff - would you not care at least the slightest bit to stop it? Wouldn't you want to at least find out what this person's drive to suicide is? Everybody has their own life story. Everybody has their own personal issues. And that's OK.
I believe it's apathetic and selfish to say suicide is a ''selfish'' act. However, deliberately
forcing someone to live a life full of pain and suffering is selfish. But there is no objective measurement of misery. We live in a world where depression is one of the most common disorders. Everybody in their life time will experiences suffering and pain in one way or another. It could affect one to a greater extent than another.
You live in a gray and cold-hearted world if you think it should be that easy to let one commit suicide. Not trying to sound like a random hippie, but there's so much joy and happiness that life brings.
