I don't feel the need to celebrate it. Firstly, I think it's a thing for heterosexual couples and secondly, I appreciate the women who are my family and friends every day.

Besides, men and women are equal and yet I don't see an International Men's Day.

I never received wishes on that day and no one I know celebrates it. And don't bring knowledge into this as an attempt to shame me because not knowing a holiday is not a measurement of one's knowledge.

And I'm not speaking out of frustration, that's just my personal opinion on this holiday. I don't have an obligation to celebrate it and I don't believe it is needed. And I have the full right to believe so.

Valuable opinions are supposed to contribute to whatever is being discussed. What are you contributing here? You're essentially hijacking the thread to say that you don't see a need for it by claiming that you appreciate women and that women and men are equal, at least one of which definitely isn't true. It's just like going into a thread about Pride Month and claiming it's not needed because LGBT people have gained equality and "where straight pride month?".

Well sorry then, I thought "Discussion" had a different meaning. I ain't participating in this passive aggressive mess, just letting know that not everybody needs to recognise this holiday.

Women deserve acknowledgement for their acheivements the same way everyone else does, but not just for the sake of being women.

Okay, dude... and I say this as someone who cares a great deal about men's issues... get over yourself.

As others in this thread have pointed out, there already is an International Men's Day. Just googling "International Men's Day" gives you the exact date as the first result, so it's a little suspicious that you couldn't be arsed to do even that.

But today is a day for recognizing the accomplishments of the women in our lives and the women who helped shape history. Yes, I wholly support men's issues advocacy and the encouragement of positivity for men, but now is not the time. Let the ladies have their moment.

What about being nice to women all the time? Or even better, being nice to everyone all the time, and not just to men/women?

A special day belittles the whole thing. Some women have a great life, some men have a great life. Most men and women don't.
