Focus with a Billboard peak of #7 is a flop? Ariana has yet to drastically underperform. Focus didn't reached the highs that Problem or some other ME singles did, but it did everything but bad. She will be fine, more than fine. Focus did even peak higher in some countries, than some of the "smash hits" of ME, like it peaked higher in the UK than Break Free did.

Honestly Focus could have been a bigger hit if she did not insert a howling ape as a chorus. The whispering chorus in problem worked so much better because it was not so frightening and grating on the ears. I have gotten used to it, but still to this day it urks me she did not include a better real chorus.

the chorus is perfect. as soon as i heard it my booty was POPPIN. ariana was coming for that 70s funk vibe (if you look at most music from then, a chorus like this was a norm back then) and it's amazing. everything about that song is effortless but she just left it for dust.
