 | | Papa Roach
"Lifeline"
Album: Metamorphosis
Let's get a little rocker with this alternative great band, I normally don't use to frequent this genre but I can make my exceptions with great songs like this, I love the lyrics, the vocals and the style of this band that keeps impressing me since a long time ago. |
| | | Beyoncé
"Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)"
Album: I Am... Sasha Fierce
Sorry I know I said no more ties, but actually this was this song's peak this year, I cut it out of the original list for being 2008. But it does deserve to be mentioned since the choreography is just iconic. Good job Bey! Get that video of the year!! |
| | | Yeah Yeah Yeahs
"Zero"
Album: It's Blitz!
We keep on the alternative side with this song which at first I refused to like, but there you had me singing "You're a zero..." so well I gave it a chance and here it is, the music video and the lyrics are kinda gret too. IDK much about this band but they give me so creative teas. |
| | | The Saturdays
"Work"
Album: Chasing Lights
Oh too bad I got to know this great british girl band right at the end of their debut album promo, but anyways let me tell you this song is sticky and catchy like bubblegum, I like the chorus and their moves in the music video, so well, they get this spot! |
| | | Kris Allen
"Live Like We're Dying"
Album: Kris Allen
And here comes the guy that everyone's been expecting! Yeah Kris Allen made it here and he deserves a special mention cause I totally underated him, with the title of the winner of AI and his debut album under his arm, this guy is here to stay, and I hope so cause this song is great to proove it. |
| | | Daughtry
"No Surprise"
Album: Leave This Town
Oh no I cant explain why this band isnt well received here in ATRL. At first I didn't like him, you know that "idol" tag I just put in them, but well after this song came out I fell in love with his talent, he's a good songwritter a great singer and a good balladist which I appreciate the most. You can expect them to appear later in my next year countdown, or maybe in this one |
| | | Nelly Furtado
"Más"
Album: Mi Plan
I'm so glad Nelly finally took a chance and delivered us her first (and hope not last) spanish album. She experiences some new latin vibe in these new songs but at the same time she's still the same old Nelly that I love. 2nd single from her album, this song is pure sweet. |
| | | Fey
"Lentamente (Let Me Show You)"
Album: Dulce Tentación (Sweet Temptation)
First and only latin artist to appear in this countdown, Fey, the mexican teen pop sensation of the 90s is finally back and how a great way to kick back up her career with this amazing single and futuristic video, I love it, for me it was the best latin single of the year. |
| | | McFly
"Lies"
Album: Radio: Active
I must thank this song the fact that I discovered this amazing british band this year. Lies was released last year in the UK but was just released this year in Latin America and thank God cause I immediatly liked it. These guys are so creative and I expect big things from them in the future. |
| | | Lady Gaga
"Bad Romance"
Album: The Fame Monster
Lady Gaga fell in a bottomless hole for me when she sold herself to the media. I used to enjoy a lot listening to her songs but not anymore cause her creativity is now part of a selling process, but anyways this video deserves a special mention cause basically it is one of the best videos I saw in the whole year. |
| | | Eminem
"We Made You"
Album: Relapse
Eminem is back! And very renewed with that creativity he's so known for. This songs is like those kinds of songs you dislike but can't stop listening, its funny and the music video is one of the best this year. BTW I love the way he came for all those bimbos' wigs again |
Results for Best Rock single and Best Upbeat Single will be announced tomorrow.
Merry Christmas everyone!!
