Can somebody say fan favourite? Lonely got the most 11s out of any song in the rate and it's not hard to see why. Janet makes a very heartfelt plea here, reaching out to listeners that she will be there for them if they ever need a friend. The flute on this is especially nice! One thing I love about Janet's discography that you see in this song is its openness to
interpretation, reading an article on her best songs mentioned this with a potential sexual subtext? Her reaching out in hornyness for the lonely party. I can hear that if I try! Though it isn't how I interpret the song it's cool to hear other people's ideas and this song is really just a great fuzzy sounding number. No wonder it got those 11s.
Ivory. loves the vocals on this and
Vilppu also thinks it's "so soothing and relaxing, and works really well after all the bops."
ECNEICSNOC stans down, "This is such a beautiful slice of quiet storm. Possibly her 2nd best straight up (no Paula) ballad." It is really gorgeous.
