lol at toxic only being remembered on atrl and beautiful when:
YT: Toxic>Beautiful
Spotify: Toxic>Beautiful
Memorability: Toxic>Beautiful
Not to mention Britney hasn't performed it outside of her concerts in over a decade while Xtina performs Beautiful at almost every function she's invited to
|
She performs it every night in her Vegas show
Beautiful is a staple at voice competitions to this day and is respected as an LGBT anthem. Virtually nobody plays or knows Toxic anymore.

Several classics don't have much views on YT. Are you saying Toxic is more of a classic than Like A Virgin or Frank Sinatra's several signature songs, which have low view counts on YouTube?
|
comparing a song released in the 80s to songs released in the early 2000s?
toxic & beautiful are much closer in release dates than LAV

it's played on one of the biggest stations in the US, Beautiful isn't AT ALL
Toxic is also covered multiple times on singing competitions every year, and it's always the highlight of that season ( see: alex & sierra, melanie martinez, etc.) Literally all the receipts are pointing to Toxic>Beautiful

In a 2005 poll conducted by Sony Ericsson, Toxic was ranked as the world's second favourite song, only behind "We Are The Champions" by Queen. Over 700,000 people in 60 different countries cast their votes.

Actual classics like 'Like a Prayer', 'Crazy in Love', 'Poker Face', 'Umbrella', 'Rolling in the Deep' etc. are.
A classic pop song is one which endures and stands the test of time.
I haven't heard 'Toxic' on the radio or at the club since forever.
Oh, and this was its chart run in America:
53-36-29-22-18-14-11- 10-*9*-11-11- 10-14-17-19-19-37-41-51-56

The Beatles, Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson and Madonna aren't here either. Are you saying 'Toxic' is more iconic than any of their songs, too, because a radio station in LA played it recently?
---
The song, while fun and catchy, is not iconic outside of Britney fansites like ATRL.

Crazy in Love. Toxic. Beautiful. We Belong Together. Poker Face.
There are too many that a consensus is simply impossible.

Yeah, the house that Britney built had told me for so long that the song was iconic and I went along and believed it like a fool. 5 years of being told something over and over and over can have that effect, I'm afraid. Having done my own research, I now know that that is not the case. I now know to take certain propaganda with a grain of salt. Love that you keep tabs on my posts, though!
My stance remains the same; 'Toxic' is not an iconic song!

more like you let the recent monster vs. army feud influence your thoughts on Britney ( your other "fave"). This backtracking is so lame though, even you don't believe it. SAVE IT

Why does it bother you so much that I don't see 'Toxic' as an iconic song? Get over it.
Dig up as many old posts as you like, it doesn't change a damn thing.
Very low to make this a personal thing, sweetie. Do you have no other arguments?

Well it just shows how weak you are to let a petty stan war change your views on an artist but you can pretend to think whatever you want, the T has already been spilled
Anyway what other arguments do you want? We already brought up recurrent views, airplay, covers, etc. all important factors in determining how iconic a song is, while your only argument is... chart peaks.
