The fact that you think its not rational is beyond me.

Some of these people are beyond repair. Once you get to a certain age, your mind is already set in its ways. That's why you make their assess go to prison where you know they're gonna have a rough time among inmates for their crimes, and THEN send them to rehab depending on the case.

But if its a grown ADULT who is completely responsible for their sick actions, lock that demon up, throw away the key, and let the inmates do the dirty work.

We cannot as a society afford the number of people we have in prison, and decades of policies following your logic for punishment has not moved the needle on bit.

Sure, not everyone can be rehabilitated. But it is cowardly, stupid, and lazy not to try.

If it gets passed, it'll be at the Supreme Court within the next year or two.

The against argument? If we allow that, should we also allow people's hands to be chopped off? If we're by a cliff and I kick you and make you fall to your death, should my legs be cut off? It's unconstitutional to take someone's body parts without their premission. Plus it's totally inhumane.

Also innocent people found guilty would be affected.

Obviously a person who thinks touching children sexually needs helps but so do all his/her potential victims. There are countless studies that show most child molesters cannot be rehabilitated. You're essentially betting for the convicted child molester and against his potential victims when you argue that they should take rehabilitation programs AND be released back into society. I'd rather be an idiot and bet against convicted child molesters and lock them up for a few decades than for them and risk the safety of innocent children, their potential victims.

It's like the government killing people thru the death penalty to prove to them/others that they aren't supposed to kill people. It literally makes no sense

What That's just not worth it. The cost of the surgery just wouldn't be worth the chance of repeating offender would be my guess.

In my opinion pedophiles and rapists cannot ever be rehabilitated. They can't be cured. We need to do something more, I'd say making their prison sentence an automatic life term. Or putting them away from the rest of society anywhere else, maybe a mental institution like someone else said. Releasing them back into the public and simply saying "k you're a registered sex offender so don't go near children lol" is really not enough. Trust me, if these people commit this act one time, if they get the chance they will definitely do it again
