A billion views and 12-16 weeks in the top 2 will be really hard to match, not to mention the sales decline...

SHAKE IT OFF truly is her best LEAD single so far, as massive as NEVER EVER, but much LESS NEGATIVE.

Edit: On the other hand, another lead single material, BAD BLOOD can immediately make people talk about, but obviously LESS POSITIVE.

Edit2: BLANK SPACE is like something in between, that's why I rank it higher than BAD BLOOD.

As the SEVENTH single, NEW ROMANTICS says bye-bye to Hot 100 number one for sure. It's one of the singles which rely on releasing time very much. Still think August is its best releasing month.

She should maybe release music videos for the promo singles next era.

Opus could've been a top 5 hit if it had a video when released in October 14. W2NY would've been top 10 with one.


BUT I don't know if videos for promo singles would **** up the lead single / second single.

I don't think she'll be able to outdo SIO. But she continues to surprise me with her artistic choices, so I'll keep that prediction tentative.

Assuming she stays with Max for round two of pop -- and I bet she will -- I'm sure they'll cook up something big.

The fact that OOTW would have peaked at #3 if Billboard hadn't changed the rule about instant grat tracks the week / week before the song debuted.

Sadly it's the truth that POP single will be easier to challenge SIO.

Plus, she'll have an enormous amount of hype behind the following lead. If she and Max make that song -- think Katy's "Roar" (and I'm referring to the production, not the lyrics ) -- I think it could outdo SIO.

I would say MM is more basic, in a good way...as in basic rule to write a number one single. Ryan Tedder...not so much, that's why his works flopped on 1989.

Edit: Sometimes BASIC rule is very simple...let people talk about, more people equal bigger impact.

Don't get me wrong, once again my top 5 on 1989:

1,THIS LOVE (Determined to flop on charts)
2, CLEAN (A little bit better chance than THIS LOVE, but still)
3, OUT OF THE WOODS (Glad it was release as a single)
4, BLANK SPACE (Good combinations)
5, BAD BLOOD (Hot 100 number one PLUS Grammy-winning anthem which is underrated in this base, the concerts said differently from this base) Edit: I'm glad it was released as the FOURTH single not the FIRST.

Edit: Not the mention this accomplishment is under the situation, that this era, they wasted a lot of power of YouTube.

My prediction: The NEW ROMATICS MV will be released when its itune performance becomes stable, radio is another factor which can influence its sales, I think it did NOT peak yet, I mean the peak before the release of its MV which will for sure push it massively.

Edit: Other than these, the best promotion is still TV performance, I hope she perform NEW ROMANTICS at BBMA
