What are some things you'd like to see your country improve/fix/change?

Everything. Everything!

Completely change the politicians. They're useless, they do what they want without listening to the people's opinions. Had it been for the Italians, we'd have same-sex marriage already, but laws take BIBLICAL times to pass in Italy because of the tragic organization of the law system. And also, the church doesn't pay the taxes, which sounds pretty unfair to me considering how they use the money they get from the people and from the state.

- Invest in our resources much more (which is already promised with the help of Russia and China)
- Work on tourism because it has the potential to be a tourist heaven
- Fix corruption, which will be hard (considering it's a military-based country) but still possible
- Better education (it's stuck in 2001)
- Legalize homosexuality (it currently has non-enforced penalty which is almost the same, but even that needs to change), specially that it's the most culturally liberal and progressive Arab country

Apart from the obvious things like rebuilding the country

What Syria really needs after the terrorist stuff is done is publicity to change its image. My parents don't want to go on vacation to Cyprus, Israel or Jordan because "they're too close to Syria"

I wanted to add this too. True. And there's no reason for all the hatred towards the west, it gives North Korea vibes sometimes

Work on the education. New standardized tests were brought in that K-12 have to take at the end of the year that has prevented some from graduating.

First of all, get rid of our current politicians because they all are corrupt as ****. After that, stop spending money on unnecessary things. They keep building stadiums and want to host an Olympics in 4 years, without even asking the population about that. They are spending a massive amount of money on these things, when everyone knows that we won't be chosen to host the event.
What we need is to fix the education and the hospitals which are falling apart. People are dying in hospitals due to infections because hospitals do not have money to buy listerine. A major percentage of our doctors are going abroad not only because of the money, but because Hungarian hospitals are the pits. We have huge problems in the country, but the politicians don't give two ****s about them. All they care about is their own well being.

Work together more with Belgium, Luxembourg and Germany (perhaps create a small political union with the BeNeLux) to make the process of Europeanisation go quicker. Strive for less trade barriers on a global scale, and investing way more into research in renewables, GMOs, biomedical techniques and ways to improve the integration of foreigners (including people whose family moved here over 2 generations ago, in fact those seem the most vulnerable to extremism).
Make sure all people in the country know both Dutch and English at a high level and make sure no getto districts or schools exist (like having a minimum of Dutch people and muslims at each school).
Forbid religious schools, make religious institutions forbiddable (is this a word?), focus more on general knowledge (more history, geography) and replace latin/ancient greek language class with class about their culture. Lower the hours per year for hugh school student from 1040 to 600 and focus more on extracurricular activities and becoming independent.
