I live in Kanata (from the St. Lawrence Iroquoian word kanata or canada, meaning "village" or "settlement"), which is a suburb of Ottawa (derived from the Algonquin word adawe, meaning "to trade". The word refers to the Indigenous Peoples who used the river to trade, hunt, fish, camp, harvest plants, ceremonies, and for other traditional uses).
Kanata and Canada basically are the same word/name.
