I saw her in one Bollywood movie. What the hell was a white woman doing playing a Malayali?
Apparently she's done a lot of work in Tollywood and Kollywood too? Does she play Indians in those movies too or does she play a white woman?
It's so sad that these half white (or full white) women are taking over Bollywood. Meanwhile the old, ugly Indian actors stay. I guess they're catering to the Indian and Pakistani male fantasy.
A friend and I with John Abraham from the set of Dostana. They filmed the entire movie in South Florida and so many of my friends got to be on the set and meet the actors.

Look at the cast of Housefull 3.
I don't have an issue with the mixed Indian actors like Katrina Kaif, Nargis Fakhri, Dino Morea, Ayesha Takia, Lara Dutta, Diya Mirza who are good looking models and/or decent actors.
I do have an issue with a white actor playing an Indian. Kalki Koechlin is of French ancestry but was born and raised in India, so she gets a pass. I did see Amy Jackson in Madarasapatnam and she did a fine job. But I feel like these white actresses are sending a clear message of fair/white supremacy. Akshay, Ritesh, and Abhishek all look a mess, I'm skipping on that movie.

That's still a slay. I love Karishma so much. She can dance and dress Indian and Western so well. I feel if she had singing talent, she would've been a successful artist. Salman Khan in the 90's is one of the most handsome men in film, period.

This will still be iconic!
Poo holds a special place in my heart. I feel 13 again seeing that clip!

I like her and she seem pretty harmlesss. She's starred in Tamil, Malayalam & Hindi films The issue here is that Indian directors, and generally people in India, still cater to the idea that light-skinned Indians = more beautfiul
It still amazes me how ahead of its time Mughal-e-Azam was. The cinematography, still, remains unmatched even with today's technology. Every camera angle is so perfectly placed and every scene so perfectly executed. Props to his son for working to colourise it and remaster the audio because you get to really appreciate the mastery of its sets. The soundtrack is excellent as well and remains my favourite of any Bollywood film.
The first two minutes of Pyar Kiya To Darna Kya are TIMELESS, as is the entire movie. No wonder Bajirao Mastani is a tribute to K Asif.

So they're slowly deleting Indian women out of Hindi movies. How sad.
And Bollywood always done that to non-North Indians. They cast Priyanka Chopra as Mary Kom.

If you don't mind my asking, what's your ethnicity?
As for mixed Bollywood actors, most of the people listed are actual Indian nationals except for Katrina Kaif and Nargis Fakhri. I posted the "exposé" before and I highly doubt Katrina is South Asian at all so I do have a problem with her. There's a Brazilian model who tried doing the same thing. Initially she was just Brazilian, but then she claimed she was half Punjabi and now she claims 1/4 Punjabi. A lot of these foreign, exotic models are coming into India and pulling a Katrina because they know Indians love darker, western women that can look reasonably "Indian". They add an Indian ancestor and change their names and people are more open to them rather than any foreiner.
Nargis Fakhri is half South Asian from her Pakistani father so I guess she's acceptable. I highly doubt she even cared about the Indian fashion industry and then Hindi movies before she was a failed model in the US. She was rejected by America's Next Top Model twice.
she was a purser for Pan Am , based in Mumbai,

1986. recently a movie was made on her sonam played the lead role alongside shabana azami

The premise sounds good, but so did that of Airlift and that movie was bad. I feel bad for Nimrat Kaur. She deserves better material.
I always thought Sonam Kapoor was a "just there" type of actress - one that isn't bad but not crazy talented either. She seemed like a Star Plus actress to me (blame Prem Ratan Dhan Payo). Neerja changed my perception of her though. Such a chilling movie. I couldn't have imagined anybody else playing the role.

I don't have a problem with most of these people except most of them can't act well at all. FYI Lara Dutta and Ayesha Takia aren't recntly mixed. Her mom is an Anglo-Indian, which is the community (mostly in West Bengal) are a mix of British and Indians, which have been her for generations. They're definitely Indian and so are Dia and Dino. Katrina and Nargis are different issues (and Nargis isn't even Indian at all).
Regarding the message of fair/white supremacy, that's a message that's sent out in Asia even without these Eurasian and white actors being hired. The majority of people in people in Asian media are "fair and lovely" and if they're not, they're made to appear that way with lighting, filter, makeup, etc.

I don't dislike Amy Jackson either, but there is something totally wrong when she just go into and get jobs playing ethnicities she doesn't even resemble. I'd be okay with her just playing white people or whatever she can pass as. And also, it doesn't work both ways. Do you see British Asian girls getting roles in the UK? Hell no!
Regarding lighter = better, that's everyone in India. That's why these mixed Eurasian girls and fully white girls are getting roles. So why stop there? They should replace the ugly male actors with western people.

OMG. You should read the excuses from Indians about PC playing Mary Kom! It's the same stuff white people say when people complain about white actors playing non-white people. Like "it's acting" and "it's about who's talented" and "it's racist to only allow actors of the same race to play the character."
^ Another big reason why they went for a North Indian Bollywood actor is because of name and face value. In their mind, no one would see the film if they didn't feature a well known and successful star. I understand that money wise, but the logic is flawed.

My mother's from Jamaica, mixed with Indian ancestry (Tamil). My father's from England, a Jamaican of African ancestry. My friend is from Trinidad and Tobago, Indian ancestry (most likely Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, or Bihar).
As long as their acting is decent/great and they can deliver the language/dialect correctly, I don't see any wrong with non-nationals in the film industry. But in the case of Amy Jackson, I think she should play non-Indian/foreigner roles in India. There's been many non-Indian actors/extras that play their ethnicity in the past. India has a diverse mix of ethnicities and features, but there's enough talent (especially undiscovered) in the nation that should be given a chance too.
This is Katrina with her siblings. Her complexion and features are different from them.
I'm not going to bring up the issue anymore, because in the end, Katrina has been part of the Indian film industry for 13 years and no amount of speculation is going to reverse that. She's been here and she's not going away.

That's exactly the same thing white Americans say to justify whitewashing of non-white characters in Hollywood too. Just goes to show that everyone is basically the same no matter where you go.

I agree with the parts in bold.
As for Katrina, it's more than speculation considering that there's no proof to back her claim and actual people to contradict her claims. In any case, I think that "you have to accept it" attitude is the problem. People accept it and that's the reason why there are more and more non-Asian and mixed models replacing actual Indian actresses. It's no surprise that new Hindi movies like "Housefull 3" or "Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara" have no Indian actresses. It's the Katrina effect.
