i think it was a mix of both. i don't think we could've gotten to where we did in WWII without the help he gave us beforehand. also, he handled internal affairs during the war really well (for the most part). so i don't think we can say either "saved" us, especially since the president doesn't usually have enough power to singlehandedly save the country anyway. really, FDR was just a good president at the most necessary time.

i can verify that virginia is almost definitely wrong. hillary has a massive lead over bernie there, so i wouldn't put too much faith in him doing well there, and trump won his nomination there. so yeah, that seems pretty freaking unlikely to me.
