Back in 2007, "You Spin Me Round (Like A Record)" was meant to be the 3rd single from Jessica Simpson's 'A Public Affair' album. It had a radio release date (17th April 2007) and MTV had already announced the music video premiere (17th May 2007) before it was even shot. The song also managed to chart before release (#95 on the Pop 100 and #120 on the main chart). It looked like a potential hit, ahead of the dance-pop trend that would dominate radio in the years to come.
But then, the song was never actually sent to radio in April. The music video was never shot. The single was cancelled. There was never an official reason given, but fans assume Epic Records just couldn't be assed to promote Jessica, despite the album's success.
So was YSMRLAR mishandled? Would it have been a hit if actually released?
