No one is latching onto it, because it latches onto you and drags you down in more ways than you realise. It's certainly better these days, but racism is still there.
I work in recruitment. A certain old white fart confessed to me (cause he thought I'm white and share his views) that he interviews black people only for the numbers but actually never hires them.
Besides, just because "you" don't whine, doesn't mean others stay silent. Here in Europe we have Muslim population constantly complaining that they receive discrimination based on their religion (largely due to the recent Syrian migration). And neither you, nor anyone else should be able to tell them to suck it up and quit "whining" about being treated unfairly.
