You are most welcome. Im from Nigeria too but moved to Rep of Ireland when I was a teenager. The black community here is like 10 times smaller than in the US which means evrybody knows everybodys business.

Sadly I agree, my family is very homophobic and ignorant when it comes to gay rights.

I used to frequent necole beachie (homonym to circumvent) and the typical conventional AA women that would post there regularl never had a good word to say about. They accuse the media of propagating the gay agenda

I hate people who run into threads and make definitive statements like this one without reading, well... anything. I posted from MY OWN EXPERIENCE AS A BLACK PERSON, so how could that be a stereotype? am I supposed to seek acceptance from a community that hasn't shown me it just so harajukuhyphen won't judge me on the internet?

I think it's more to do with you - by your own admission - not being attracted to a black man unless he has some sort of other ethnicity attached. You're treading on thin ice vis a via other black gay men.

I had issues with this growing up around Detroit. I never understood why they would be so homophobic when the African American community is no stranger at getting discriminated against.

Now that I live in Florida, I have rarely ever had a problem with homophobia. In fact, I get more looks/comments from Caucasians than I do African Americans.

I can't imagine what it'd be like being in your position, but, I'd just like to wish you all the best for the future. There will be a day where the only thing you'll experience is love.

I can not comment on my own problems with the African American community as I'm white and have only been an outsider in that community, but my best friend is a black gay male and he has a lot more thoughts on this whole thing.

He grew up in Memphis in a pretty black part about of it. He is very, very feminine and he did get his ass kicked a few times growing up, but that made him more confident in himself as a homosexual in a way. It taught him to toughen up in a way and not give a **** about how people think of him and **** like that. I don't know. He now lives in a more white part of the country so he doesn't face that kind of struggle anymore.
