The first double of 3. "The Fear" and "Not Fair" are two superb tracks found on Lily Allen's fantastic sophomore album It's Not Me, It's You.
I remember first hearing "The Fear" whilst waiting for my old boss to return from talking with out clients, in the car, with the radio blasting. I fell in love straight away. It quickly became one of my main Summer tracks, its beautiful, light flow complimenting the season quite well. The great (And very humerous) lyrics are fun to sing along to, and have a great meaning behind them (It's like "Stupid Girls"'s big sister). I think the highlight was the chorus, one of the nicest melodies I've heard come from Lily, as a lot of her songs really are more talking than singing. (Thanks to, I think, Joss Stone for pointing this out)
"Not Fair" doesn't faulter in the lyrics department either, retaining her quirky humour. However, she's gone from making a point, to making fun of a personal problem; A guy she likes who lacks performance "upstairs". Lily uses the distinct Western sound to her advantage, giving us a fun track in which I'm sure a lot of ladies (And a few men) can have a few laughs over whilst dancing to it. A fantastic song which was a large part of my 2009, and along with "The Fear", cementing a deserved place in my top 10.
I'll have another one tomorrow for you guys, so be sure to clear your calendar because it's not to be missed.
"Alejandro" was the first leaked demo from Lady GaGa's sophomore album The Fame Monster that really got me looking forward to more from GaGa. RedOne's production one this track was simply amazing. One of the synthiest songs I've heard from GaGa, it fills my head with pleasure every time I listen to it. I've really come to appreciate all aspects of it, both demo and final which I was originally impartial to. It has a nice, simple melody which goes to show that GaGa doesn't need to go over the top to create great music.
Honourable mentions to "Teeth", "So Happy I Could Die", "Dance In The Dark" and "Bad Romance" (Which grew on me a LOT).
Pull the plug from your phone because another will be posted tomorrow and you won't want to be interrupted!
Alejandro is one track that never picks my interest to purposely plug on the player but once it gets on the deck, you can't resist but to give in. <3333333
Leading up to the release of Shakira's third English album I was very excited. I had played "She Wolf / Loba" to death (Love that song) so I was just imagining how good the album would be.
When it leaked, I was let down. There weren't many songs I liked on the album, and from the ones I liked, none really had that "WOW" factor "She Wolf / Loba" gave me. Until I got to "Men In This Town". It immediately grabbed me, told me to shut up and drink it in. And that I did. I didn't stop playing it for weeks and weeks, every part better than the next. The homely intro, and then the dive into an electric beat, the stunning chorus and the cheeky-dance post-chorus, and then, my favourite part, the unearthly end that is like sugar to anyone's ears.
This song has everything (Including those crazy lyrics Shakira's infamous for) and redeemed her current album for me, and has easily become my favourite Shakira track. Fantastic.
Thanks for all your comments thus far guys, and I hope you all have a Merry Christmas. Make sure to set your alarms because I'll still be posting a song tomorrow, but it might be a bit earlier.
