I'm upset that some people are fighting for black rights masked as "racial equality". Why not call a spade a spade? Is it because maybe the term "racial equality" sounds nicer, more inclusive and less polarizing than what the people using that term are really fighting for?

This! The fact that so many of you are in here using this situation as a way to diminish black people as a whole's fight for equality because Chris Rock happens to only care about black rights is kind of sad and telling tbh. Chris Rock does not speak for the entire black community. There are PLENTY of black people who truly want to fight for equality among all races and minorities.

Try to see the hypocrisy in getting upset about people painting all of your people under one stereotype, and then turning around and in the same breath claiming "all black people care about is themselves". Chris was wrong for that Asian joke. 100%, but don't act like his mindset is indicative of the entire black community, because it's not. Chris Rock's opinion on other races is his own.

The reason the focus is usually on black people is because a) They endured the worst conditions throughout the history the US. b) They are clearly the loudest about getting their justice. Nobody is stopping other races from protesting and trying to get their justice.

You need to work on your pronouns. One person is not "they". Chris Rock may not have mentioned other races, but other people like Kevin Hart did.

I was offended and I'm not even Asian. That was gross of him to do. Yes the Oscars are wrong and there needs to be more black representation but there needs to be more of all minorities too! And the fact he tried to fight racism with racist jokes...makes no sense

This is true. But both communities are still suffering today so when you go around screaming about how people are only wanting "black rights" you sound biased and hateful towards black people. Most progress in racial equality was made by black people so we are not just focusing on ourselves like you would like to believe.

I've never once said people are only wanting "black rights". Those posts you are referring to are about a specific type of person: someone who claims they are fighting for equality for all races when, in actuality, they only want rights for their own people and choose to not care about other minorities. This isn't all people fighting for blacks rights and this isn't all people fighting for racial equality, but it's unfortunately a large enough amount to not take notice of.

Firstly, maybe you should wait to see how someone replies instead writing a smart-ass hypothetical quote and then smugly replying to said quote yourself. That's not how conversations work.

The poster asked why black rights movements are more visible compared to Asians and others. It's pretty clear that the reason the focus is mostly on black people is because black people actively and loudly fought back against slavery, and then they loudly fought back against Jim Crow, and now they loudly fight back against people around America responding to their fear of black people by shooting them down.

I couldn't give a flying **** about your oppression Olympics and debating who suffered more. It's pretty clear that what happened to indigenous Americans is also unique in the history of the US, and you're correct in saying that there is barely any left to fight back. At the end of the day, everybody deserves their justice and that's all.
